Hi ... I'm a (now emeritus) member of the faculty of the
Department of Computer Science
at the
University of Colorado Boulder.
The Department is housed in the
College of Engineering and Applied Science.
What I Did
While I did lots of things around the Department, the following are most likely
to be of interest:
- Senior Project
-
I taught CSCI 4308-4318, Software Engineering Project 1 & 2,
since its inception in 1987-1988 through the 2010-2011 academic year
(24 years!).
The course was a two-semester sequence in which
teams of students complete a substantial "real world" project provided by
industry sponsors.
- Webmaster
-
I was webmaster of the Computer Science Department website,
www.cs.colorado.edu,
managing the content of the entire site through Spring 2011.
- Undergraduate Advising
-
I was an undergraduate academic advisor for Computer Science majors. Since I
had very close interaction with both seniors and industry through Senior
Project, I tended to be an informal career advisor and recruiting liaison as
well. I'm always happy to help former students with references and other
career issues.
- Undergraduate Committee
-
I was a representative on the Computer Science Undergraduate Committee.
The Undergraduate Committee
handles all policy questions relating to undergraduate study, including
issues related to the undergraduate curriculum, degree requirements,
advising of undergraduate students, and the recommendation of candidates
for undergraduate fellowships and scholarships.
- Class Schedule Coordinator
-
I was the Class Schedule Coordinator for the Department of Computer Science.
The Class Schedule Coordinator oversees the planning of courses to be
taught each semester, the assignment of instructors to teach them, and
the locations in which the courses will be taught. The coordinator also
works with
Academic Scheduling and other units of the University of Colorado to
coordinate Computer Science class scheduling with the scheduling of classes
for the campus as a whole.
- Athletics Liaison
-
I was the Department of Computer Science Athletics Liaison. The athletics
liaison primarily serves as a focal point of communication between the
Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
and the Department of Computer Science. This includes visiting with
recruits during campus visits, interviewing candidates for positions in
Athletics, and overseeing academic progress and advising of Computer
Science student-athletes.

Contacting Me
If you would like to talk to me, it's usually best to set up an appointment.
The quickest and easiest way to contact me is by email. Other methods are
usually much less expedient.
