April 2011

Graduate student Dola Saha has been selected as a recipient of the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was first launched in 2004 when a group of Google employees decided to establish a program that would honor the work of their friend and colleague Dr. Anita Borg, who devoted her adult life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields. Her combination of technical expertise and fearless vision continues to inspire and motivate countless women to become active participants and leaders in creating technology.

Since 2004, 192 women have been awarded with the scholarship in the US, and the program has expanded to include women in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Doha will receive a scholarship of $10,000 and will be invited to attend the Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View in July.
