Brinkman-Davis Named Spring 2001 Outstanding Senior

April 2001

Congratulations to Shane Brinkman-Davis, Spring 2001 recipient of the College of Engineering "Outstanding Senior Award" for Computer Science.

Shane has been an active student leader since his Freshman year when he and his CU teammates took Third Place at Regionals for the ACM Programming Contest. (In 1998, his team took First Place, sending them to Internationals in the Netherlands.) His involvement with the College also led him to become a tutor in computer science, math, and physics. He found this role to be very rewarding and continued it for seven semesters. "My students, being new to everything, taught me to think outside the box and separate the essence of my computing from the legislates."

Shane also gained industry experience through internships at Lumio Technologies and Microsoft. Shane plans on combining the lessons and skills he learned from academia and industry. "I hope to strike a balance between researching/developing new technologies, bringing those technologies to market, and teaching what I have learned ... I will pursue learning for the rest of my life."

Best of luck, Shane!
