Pathbreaking Research Center for Cognitive Technologies

October 2004

The University of Colorado has been awarded the nation's first Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) for the Advancement of Cognitive Technologies by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Gerhard Fischer, Andrew Gorman, James Sullivan, and Clayton Lewis are participants in the $5.5M center, which is headed by Cathy Bodine of Health Sciences and Michael Lightner of Engineering, and includes researchers at several other institutions. The goal of the center's work is to reduce barriers to independent living and the workforce for persons with significant cognitive impairments.
