Professor Lawrence Hunter has been named a 2010 International Society for Computational Biology Fellow. The International Society for Computational Biology introduced the ISCB Fellows Program in 2009 to honor members that have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to the fields of computational biology and bioinformatics. The distinction of ISCB Fellow is based on the following criteria:

  • Fellows status is limited to 1% of the average ISCB membership of the preceding three years.

  • Nomination by an ISCB member must include a statement of support for the nominee, and be further supported by endorsement from at least three members selected by the nominator; members endorse through an online form with the option to include a brief statement of support (formal letter not required).

  • Nominees must have demonstrated excellence in research, service to the ISCB Community, education and/or administration.

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Society for at least three of the last six years.

  • Fellow status is automatically bestowed upon the Accomplishment by a Sr. Scientist Award winner.

Hunter has a joint appointment in the Department of Computer Science and in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
