Bradley Becomes Chair of Computer Science

Effective July 1, 2003, Associate Professor Elizabeth Bradley became the Chair of the Department of Computer Science. She succeeds Professor Clayton Lewis, who has served in the position since 1999.

Bradley received SB Electrical Engineering (1983), SM Computer Science (1986), and PhD Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (1992) degrees, all from M.I.T. She joined the Department in 1992 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1999. Her research interests lie in the areas of scientific computation and artificial intelligence, nonlinear dynamics and chaos, classical mechanics, network theory and circuit design.

Bradley has earned a number of awards, including the John & Mercedes Peebles Innovation in Teaching Award (1999), NSF National Young Investigator Award (1993-1998), and the Packard Fellowship (1995-2000). She is also a Member of the External Faculty of the Santa Fe Institute, a Senior Member of the IEEE, and on the advisory board of Chaos. Liz was also a member of the U.S. Olympic "Four with Coxswain" rowing team, which placed 5th in the 1988 Seoul Summer Games.
