Department Hosting 2004 ACM Programming Contests

October 2004

The Computer Science Department will be hosting two ACM programming contests this month. The first contest will be a local contest to help form teams that will represent CU at the second contest, which is part of the 2004 Rocky Mountain Regional ACM Programming Contest.

Local Programming Contest

The local contest will be held in the Whitewater Lab (ECCH 105) on Sunday, October 10th from 2:00pm-4:30pm and will feature three problems developed by John Black, an assistant professor in the department. John also wrote a problem that will be used in this year's regional contest. Thanks to John for helping the contest in this way!

Regional Programming Contest

The regional contest will be held in the basement CSEL labs (ECCR 1B54 and connecting rooms) on Saturday, October 30th from 10:00am-3:00pm. There will be a practice contest held the night before, Friday, October 29th, starting at 7:00pm.

In general, all undergraduates and beginning graduate students are eligible for the contest. For more information on the CU-Boulder component of the regional contest, see CU-Boulder's 2004 Rocky Mountain Regional ACM Programming Contest.

The contests are being organized by Professor Kenneth Anderson. Contact Ken if you are interested in participating. In addition, our local ACM Student Chapter will be helping to host the contest ... if you do not want to compete but would like to help, contact the Chair of the Student Chapter, Christine Predaina.

The ACM Programming Contest is a great way to challenge and hone your programming skills while working on a team within a competitive and fun environment. We look forward to two great contests this year! Come join the fun!
